The Kilgore College Fire Academy is recognized by the State of Texas as an Exemplary Program.
The academy is certified by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection and the State Firemen and Fire Marshal's Association and approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
The academy offers certification schools for NFPA 1001 Basic Structural Firefighter I and II certification, the Texas Volunteer certification, Fire Inspector, and Fire and Arson Investigation courses.

Welcome Americans and Canadians
The Kilgore College Fire Academy has received approval as a designated institution by the Canadian Province of British Columbia. Students attending the Fire Academy who meet the British Columbia residency requirement are now able to apply for financial assistance under the British Columbia Student Assistance Program.
Individuals completing a combined Fire Fighter I and Fire Fighter II Commission approved Basic Structure Fire Suppression program; passing the applicable State examination; and holding, as a minimum, current certification by the Texas Department of Health as an Emergency Care Attendant or successful completion of the American Red Cross Emergency Response course with optional endorsements may be granted IFSAC certifications as a Firefighter I, Firefighter II, First Responder Awareness, and First Responder Operations by making application to the Commission for the IFSAC seals and paying applicable fees. Students will also receive eight (8) hours certification in Wildland Firefighter Techniques from the Texas Forest Service and twenty-five (25) hours certification in Hazardous Materials Response from the City of Kilgore Fire Department.
