Kilgore College now participates in the Federal guaranteed Stafford Loan Program. In order to complete the process to secure a federally guaranteed loan, you need to complete the following steps. You can print out these Web pages, or download a PDF file that contains these steps.

Understanding Stafford Loans
Once you receive your Kilgore College award letter, you will need to accept or reduce the loan amount by signing the award letter and returning it to the financial aid office. We will create your loan application on Texas Guaranteed Loans by Web site for you to complete. Do not complete the following steps until you are absolutely sure you want a loan and will be attending at least 6 hours at Kilgore College .

Steps to Completing the Loan Process at Kilgore College |

Open your browser to https://lbw.tgslc.org.
You will be directed to the myTG portal to log in. If this is your first visit to myTG, you will be required to register as a new user by creating a Username and Password.

If this is your first student loan or your previous lender is no longer lending, you will need to pick a lender. You can pick the lender from the Kilgore College list of lenders or you can do a search and find the lender of your choice.

Select your borrower type – undergraduate student borrower. |

Verify your loan information and click Send Request to submit the application. |

Select Complete a Loan Award from the Main Menu.

You must sign your Master Promissory Note (MPN) . If the selected lender offers the option to electronically sign (e-sign) your MPN, a link to the e-sign site will be displayed. Follow the prompts on the screen. If the e-sign option does not appear, your MPN will be mailed to you to sign and return to your lender. (Do not return MPN to your school.)

Under Option 1 – Complete a Loan Award, select the loan you want to accept. Complete the Entrance Loan Counseling by following the prompts on the screen, then Return to Loans by Web to complete your loan request.

You may need your FAFSA pin number to sign your MPN. If you do not remember the 4 digit pin number you used to sign your FAFSA, you can request it at www.pin.ed.gov and it will be sent to the email they have on record for you.

Follow the steps outlined under Complete a Loan Award. |

After completing the e-sign process, log out of TG Loans By Web. |
6.

Confirm your personal information and provide any missing information. |
|

7.
|
Provide two references that do not share the same last name, address, or phone number. |

All loan money is scheduled to disburse 30 days after the first day of school and any excess funds will be refunded to the student 14 days later . You must be registered for at least 6 hours before the loan money can be applied to your account.

Important Notice:
Concerning Students With a Hold for Exit Loan Counseling
Stafford Loan Exit Counseling is required by the Department of Education when a student withdraws or drops below half time (6 credit hours) during a semester. If there is a hold on your account for Exit Counseling, you need to complete the Stafford Loan Exit Counseling requirement on http://mappingyourfuture.org before the hold can be removed. The hold will prevent you from registering and receiving transcripts. Holds will be removed as quickly as possible but it is not automatic. The hold can only be removed when the college is open. |
