Overview
of
Diesel Technology
The Diesel Technology Program prepares students for positions in the exciting world of diesel truck repair, heavy equipment repair and natural gas compression. Upon enrolling in the program, students are assisted in finding jobs with local companies that allow them to work part-time as a mechanic-in-training while attending KC. |
What do graduates of the program do?
Students who graduate from this program can work as a truck technicians, heavy equipment technicians, and natural gas compression technicians. Students may elect to specialize in areas such as building engines or transmissions. The opportunities in this field are limited only by a person's desire and work ethic. |
What is the job outlook for graduates?
The job outlook for graduates has never been brighter! Students usually can expect four to five job offers at the end of their training.

What kind of salary can graduates expect locally and nationally?
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national median salary for Diesel Technology is $37,660. Local salaries vary.
Exciting opportunities in the off-shore oil drilling business also exist where diesel technicians can make as much as $90,000/year. |
