Ranger Card (ID Card)

It is mandatory that all students and staff carry a Ranger ID Card.

lf you use your Ranger Card often, so make sure to carry it with you at all times.

Use your card to:

  • Receive financial aid disbursements (unless you designate another financial institution)
  • Receive book buyback credits
  • Purchase food through your meal plan
  • Check out books from the library
  • Attend athletic events
  • Receive student discounts from participating merchants

Kilgore College and Herring Bank have teamed up to offer you a convenient, one-card solution with the Ranger Card. he Ranger Card is a multi-functional Student ID Card that allows you to open an optional checking account at Herring Bank that offers free access to Herring Bank ATMs and to make no-fee purchases at merchant locations that accept MasterCard or pin-based transactions. It’s the easy way to access cash and make purchases on and off campus.

A Herring Bank College checking account offers you:

Call the Ranger Card office at (903) 983-8650 or visit the Ranger Card office in the Kilgore College Police Department (KCPD) office on either the Kilgore or Longview campus (Office hours in Kilgore are Monday - Thursday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and the Longview hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Financial Aid Disbursements:

If you do not designate a bank account in which to receive your financial aid disbursements, Kilgore College has chosen the optional Ranger Student ID multi-functional card account offered by Herring Bank as the account for all student financial aid disbursements.  If you would like to designate a different account for your direct deposits, you may do so through Campus Connect.  Click on Designate Direct Deposit and follow the instructions in Campus Connect.

Student Discounts:

Some merchants may provide a student discount to all Ranger Cardholders. If you are a merchant and would like to offer a discount to Ranger Cardholders, please call (903) 983-983-8189.

Library Card Info:

Your Ranger Card has a barcode for library use. Make sure you present your Ranger Card at the library.

Ranger MasterCard Debit Student ID Card Policies:


To enhance a more user-friendly environment for students, faculty, and staff by providing a high quality, single card system that allows efficient access to all card-related services throughout Kilgore College and to seek new and expanded uses of the card through improved, advanced technology.


The policy has a college-wide applicability.


Terms are defined as needed within this document.


The Ranger Card is the official Kilgore College picture ID card. In addition to identifying the relationship with Kilgore College, the card provides access to campus events and activities, residence halls/other buildings, meal plans, and the library. Meal plans may only be used via the ID card or cash must be used to purchase a meal.

Who qualifies for a card?

  • Students
  • Faculty & Staff (Permanent employees of Kilgore College, defined as receiving benefits, are entitled to a free Ranger Card as a condition of their employment).
  • Emeriti (Any individual that has been given an Emeriti status by Kilgore College is entitled to a free ID card as a courtesy of past employment)
  • College Board (Any member of the College Board is entitled to a free card).
  • Any Kilgore College affiliate member on-campus is entitled to a free ID card.

Expiration of Ranger Card:

ID Cards are valid while cardholder still has an active status with Kilgore College.

Policy on ID Picture taking:

For ID card pictures Kilgore College requires individuals to remove any items not worn as part of their daily appearance (i.e. prescription eyeglasses). The only exceptions are items worn for cultural and religious reasons. All bandannas, hats, sunglasses and/or visors, etc. are to be removed before picture is taken.

Card Fee Structure:

  1. Student's First Card: The cost of the first Ranger Card is free for all students. This includes the cost of the card and administrative cost associated with production.
  2. Student Replacement Cards: A $15 charge will be placed on the student’s college account when a replacement ID card is issued. All payments must be submitted to the Cashier’s Office before having KCPD re-issue another ID.
  3. Faculty/Staff/Others: Faculty and Staff are entitled to a free replacement card.
  4. Free Replacement cards for cardholders*

Extreme hardship cases - very rare; apartment fire for example
If the card is not returned by the ATM during a transaction

Responsibilities as a Cardholder:

Deactivating or Reinstating your Ranger Card:

Faculty/Staff, Students, and other college cardholders do not have to surrender their cards upon discontinuing their employment/association with Kilgore College. We have an automatic privilege assignment/removal process to enable or disable the ID card. If the card has the banking option, disabling the card would not deactivate the banking feature of the card.

Reporting a Lost/Stolen Card:

To report a lost or stolen card, please call 1-866-348-3435, 24 hours a day. Kilgore College provides replacement service of ID cards during operational hours. The cards can be replaced at the Ranger Card office (KCPD office in Kilgore and Longview). If the ID card is also an ATM card, the individual will be asked their social security number and birth date for verification purposes before the card is canceled.

Important Account Information


Your Ranger Card is linked to a checking account at Herring Bank. This will be the default account for all student disbursements from Kilgore College unless you designate a different account through Campus Connect.


You must activate your card by performing a PIN transaction with the PIN that you chose during issuance. We recommend a free Balance Inquiry on Checking at any Herring Bank ATM (click on red link below for locations).

Guidelines for Handling Your ID Card

Your Ranger Card is a multi-functional card.  It should be treated with care and steps can be taken to avoid damaging the cards functionality.

Please adhere to the following:

  • Do not expose to direct sunlight
  • Do not expose to extreme heat or open flame
  • Do not expose to chemicals
  • Do not machine wash
  • Do not crimp, bend or twist card
  • Do not re-laminate
  • Do not immerse in liquids of any kind
  • Do not puncture
  • Do not hole-punch

If you damage your ID card, you do so at your own risk.  If damaged, you will have to pay the replacement fee to have another ID card produced.

If Your Card is Lost or Stolen

If you have lost your card, contact the Herring Bank Customer Service Center immediately at (866) 348-3435 to prevent theft of the funds in your account. The sooner you report a lost or stolen card can limit your liability and reduce the chance of losing the balance of your account. You will also need to go to the Ranger Card office for a new card. The fee for the first replacement card is $15.

How to Make Deposits on your Ranger Card

Online Deposits:

  • Parents and/or students can transfer funds from an existing bank account using our ONLINE DEPOSITS webpage (www.rangercard.com)

In-Person – Herring Bank Branch:

  • You can make a deposit to your Ranger Card at any Herring Bank branch.
  • Present your ID card when making a deposit to identify yourself as a Ranger Card holder.

Payroll Direct Deposit:

  • Present your routing and account numbers to your employer.
  • Your routing number is 111302846.
  • You can obtain your account number by calling 1-866-348-3435.
