Cosmetology

Cosmetology is the art and science of beautifying hair, skin, and nails.
The main goal of the Cosmetology program is to prepare students to pass the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation examination.   The program prepares students to pass both the Texas written and practical examinations. Students receive this preparation through classes and also by actual salon experience through the program's salon facilities and its clientele.

Kilgore College's Cosmetology Program is actually four programs in one. The program includes the following:

1. Cosmetology, for students who wish to obtain an Operator License
2. Nail Technology, for students who wish to obtain a Manicurist License
3. Facial/Esthetician, for students who wish to obtain a Facialist Specialty License
4.
Dual credit cosmetology for high school students.

After completing the classroom hours required by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, students must take a practical exam in Dallas and a written exam in Tyler.
