Corrosion Scholarship Golf Tournament
A golf tournament held on Sept. 7 raised more than $7,000 in scholarships for Kilgore College Corrosion Technology students. The tournament, sponsored by Pipeline Integrity Inc. of Longview, was held at Wood Hollow Golf Course in Longview. Brandon Dyer, president of P.I.R., organized the tournament with the help of many local companies.
“Brandon Dyer presented the idea when I met him in Nashville in March as we discussed the increased student needs so I sent him contacts of graduates that I knew played golf,” said Jerome Edinger, KC coordinator of energy and design technology. “Soon the P.I.R. personnel located many others who joined together to design this tournament which resulted in 32 teams of players.” More than 130 people attended the event. Participants were mostly graduates of the Corrosion Technology program at Kilgore College in addition to friends and associates from Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas and Kansas.
“A lot of hard work was done by P.I.R. employees, Christy Logan of BP Company and many others who donated prizes,” Edinger said. “We are also very appreciative of the Kilgore Rangerettes who helped with registration duties and distributing prizes.”
