Overview of Child Development/Early Childhood
The program focuses on the practical application of current theory and knowledge in the field of early childhood education. Students learn through hands-on experiences in both the classroom and laboratory settings. Students conduct their laboratory experiences in the nationally accredited Kilgore College Early Childhood Center under the supervision of model early childhood teachers.

Depending on the number of hours taken each semester, certificates can be completed in a fall/spring semester and the associate degree can be completed in two fall and two spring semesters.
What advice should I follow for enrollment?
Ideally, a student should plan to take one Early Childhood course a semester, though it is possible to successfully complete two classes a semester. In building a semester schedule, it is good to allow a time slot in the morning to complete the field experience assignments. They are a requirement for each of the courses and morning is the best time of day to observe children.
