CDL Class “A” Training Program

(CVOP 1013 – Professional Truck Driver I)
This course is designed for individuals who have no prior experience in driving a commercial vehicle. Topics include an overview of the State of Texas Class A Commercial Drivers License written examination, truck safety, traffic congestion, general truck driving skills, and extreme driving conditions. Emphasis will be placed on air brake, hazmat, and trailer endorsements. Excel Driver Services pre-screens all applicants.

CDL Permit Preparation

(CVOP 1015 – Commercial Drivers License Exam Preparation)
This course prepares individuals for the federally mandated commercial driver’s license examination. Topics include state and federal laws, air brakes, combination vehicles, tankers, doubles/triples, and hazmat.

Defensive Driver Training

A Driver Awareness Refresher Training (DART) Program
(CVOP 2000 – Professional Development Truck and Bus Driver/Commercial Vehicle Operation)
This course is designed to assess new hire CDL drivers to determine how they are going to perform while representing their place of employment. This defensive driving program provides employees with solutions to challenging situations when driving in different, extreme and changing environments. Course design includes a combination of hands on assessment, classroom, and written test knowledge to enhance skills lost or overlooked.

Entry Level Driver Training

(CVOP 1091 – Special Topics in Truck, Bus, and Other Commercial Vehicle Operator)
This course meets the criteria set forth by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for meeting minimum training requirements for entry-level Commercial Vehicle (CMV) Operators. Topics include driver qualification requirements, hours of service, driver wellness, and whistleblower protection.

15-Passenger Van Training and Certification

(CVOP 2000 – Professional Development: Truck and Bus Driver/Commercial Vehicle Operation)
This program is designed to develop and assess the driving skills of 15-passenger van operators. Each operator will be assessed for individual strengths and trained on deficiencies. Emphasis will be placed on the root causes of rollover crashes in passenger van units. Excel requires the use of customer equipment for this course.

Fuel Management and Progressive Shifting

(CVOP 2000 – Professional Development: Truck and Bus Driver/Commercial Vehicle Operation)
With skyrocketing fuel prices, fleets must look to options to improve fuel economy. This course is designed to assist experienced as well as new drivers in development of their skills in fuel management. This program will cover basic skills that will assist drivers to progressive shift in different environments, increase fuel economy, reduce wear on equipment, and improve confidence in ability to drive. Emphasis will be placed on the impact on companies and the environment and improving shifting skills to today’s low rpm torque engines.

HazMat 126 Training/Homeland Security

(CVOP 2000 – Professional Development: Truck and Bus Driver/Commercial Vehicle Operation)
This course is designed for all drivers transporting hazardous materials. Topics include 49 CFR 171-172, materials, hazard classifications, Hazardous Material Table, proper procedures for railroad crossings and tunnels, and facility and transportation security.

Post Accident Assessment

(CVOP 2000 – Professional Development: Truck and Bus Driver/Commercial Vehicle Operation)
IF a driver has an incident or accident, it is critical to review circumstances to assess the root cause of the accident. Through determination of review and assessment, Excel will evaluate driver skills to understand how to avoid having another accident. This program varies on a case-by-case scenario, and is strictly on a 1:1 basis. Upon completion, a complete analysis of findings will be reported with full commentary, along with any necessary recommendations.

Pre-Trip/Circle of Safety

(CVOP 2000 – Professional Development: Truck and Bus Driver/Commercial Vehicle Operation)
This course covers CDL pre-trip, federal law requirements, preparation techniques, 108 point criteria, and DVIR Reporting. A combination of classroom and “under the truck” exercises enhances the driver knowledge of skills necessary to perform the pre-trip inspection. This program covers Class A and B requirements, bus and transportation units excluded.

Top Gun Driver Mentor Program

(CVOP 2000 – Professional Development: Truck and Bus Driver/Commercial Vehicle Operation)
This program will train experienced drivers to become mentors for new employees. Participants will learn how to deal with difficult situations, work with drivers on deficiencies, and reinforce company criteria. Topics include leadership, behavior, change, interpersonal communication, coaching, observation, motivation, and driving skill identification.

20 hours, $800
