Sophomore Chris Angsomwine commits to play for Oral Roberts next season
Ghana transfer Chris Angsomwine has verbally committed to play for the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles after his sophomore season this year with the Rangers. Angsomwine played last season as a freshman for Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, Pa., before transferring to KC. He will play for eleventh-year head coach Scott Sutton. Over the last 10 years, the Golden Eagles have averaged better than 18 wins, won four Summit League regular-season titles, made four post-season tournament appearances including three straight NCAA Tournaments from 2006-08, and finished first or second in conference play seven times.
Thornton taken by Hornets, Elson enters 7th NBA season
Former Kilgore College basketball standout Marcus Thornton was drafted June 26 as the 13th pick in the second round of the NBA Draft by the Miami Heat. His draft rights were later traded to the Charlotte Hornets. At KC, Thornton averaged 20.7 points per game. He transferred to LSU where he averaged 21.1 points per game his senior season, leading the Tigers to the second round of the NCAAA Tournament. Another current NBA player from KC is Francisco Elson who transferred to the University of California and is currently in his eighth NBA season with the Milwaukee Bucs. He was drafted by the Denver Nuggets, and has also played for Denver, San Antonio and Seattle.
