What career opportunities are available upon completion?
The state projects that the East Texas workforce demand for auto body related jobs will increase by an estimated 8.2 percent through 2010. In addition to this, it was stated in the Occupational Outlook Handbook that most employers prefer to hire persons who have completed formal training programs in automotive body repair. As long as there are automobiles to drive there will be a demand for technicians to repair that damage caused by traffic accidents.
Q. Is there security in the marketplace to sustain employment in this field?
A. Over the past ten years according to the United States Department of Transportations National Transportation Library there has been an average of 5,758,000 traffic accidents per year.
Q. Will I have assistance in Job Placement?
A. Kilgore College has a job placement department and this program has a strong advisory committee as well as overwhelming support from the collision repair industry in this area; both of which are excited about our program producing graduates for them to employ.
Q. What positions will I be qualified to fill?
A. You will be trained in the art of collision repair; however your training will equip you to handle other tasks such as estimating and painting.
