Air Conditioning

Refrigeration Technology

This program prepares students as entry-level service technicians in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration fields. Students who graduate from this program can install, maintain, and repair equipment and accessory units for commercial, residential, and industrial usage. Students study the repair of home appliances, such as ice makers, window air conditioners, freezers, and refrigerators.

What is the job outlook?

Jobs are open right now locally in East Texas and around the nation. Job placement for recent graduates has averaged 100%. Graduates can work for established companies or develop their own business with unlimited income potential.

hat kind of salary can graduates
expect locally and nationally?


According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national median salary for Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technicians is $37,980. Local salaries will vary. In some areas of the country skilled HVAC-R tech's are making up to $100,000 yearly. Those operating their own businesses may make much more.

How long does it take?


The program consists of three certificates, which the student will complete in 12 months. Students may go immediately into the workplace or continue and earn an Associate of Applied Science degree.
