1990-99: Decade of Innovation

	Fitness Center Opening Parks Fitness Center opens during the spring semester after construction delays pushed the August 1990 opening.	Dr. Bill Holda becomes the eighth president of the college College Presidents of the Decade Bert Woodruff - 1989-93 Dr. J. Frank Thorton - 1993-96 Dr. Bill Holda - 1996-present School Website Lucas Szczepankowski, a sophomore KC student, designed KC's first full Web page providing students with a KC e-mail address and information about sports, clubs, academics, enrollment and registration. Renovated front of the Fine Arts Building, adding a fountain and renaming it the Anne Dean Turk Fine Arts Center. Renovated KC-Longview. Continued tradition of naming buildings after KC employees who have given outstanding service to the college. Provided a "home base" for adult education at the Bert E. Woodruff Adult Education Center. KC's public radio station, KTPB-88.7 FM, goes on the air Feb. 4, 1991. 1992: The David Karp Piano Festival begins in honor of the international composer. 1993: The Ann Dean Turk Piano Concerto competition begins. 1993: The KC Learning Center is named for Elwyn Bone. Dr. Frank Thorton becomes seventh president of the college. Devall Student Center The Devall Student Center is dedicated to Charles K. and Lyde W. Devall on Sept. 25 after two years of construction. Devall, longtime publisher of the Kilgore News Herald, gave $500,000 as seed money toward construction of the center. 'Angels in America' Theatre department makes headlines in the fall of 1999 with its production of "Angles in America, Part One: Millennium Approaches" by Tony Kushner.
